"We took out our previous mortgage two years ago, for a three year fixed term. We knew we had a high redemption penalty, in the region of £2000, so hadn't really thought about transferring our mortgage to a new lender, until Kit Finney at JCF Financial mentioned that we might be able to save money as the rates had reduced so much in the preceding two years!
We consolidated two loans onto the mortgage, and added on some extra money for kitchen alterations and the redemption fees. It transpired that despite the total mortgage slightly increasing, our mortgage payments alone would decrease around £30per month. Adding on the loan repayments that we would no longer have to make, we would be saving around £450 per month! With some of the savings we have made, we will be increasing our life and critical illness cover, and so will be better positioned for the years ahead.
